Riding Lessons at Leawood Stables:

We currently have three instructors available for riding lessons at Leawood Stables. Call for schedule and details... 913-642-2288.

Basic Western Riding and Horsemanship (ages 6 to 72) All lessons begin in outdoor arena.
Pony rides and guided/lead line lessons for ages 4 to 6.

Early riding lessons will be in the small arena and will cover skills such as maintaining position at the walk, the basic aids to turn and to stop the horse and exercises to enhance balance and confidence. Once the child can apply the basic aids to stop and turn, lessons will be conducted in an larger arena or other confined area, allowing the child to practice and hone those skills and learn new ones, such as rising to the trot, in relative safety.

Children that are old enough will be taught about grooming and tacking up too.

In addition to riding, students will be instructed on horse vocabulary, horse health and management skills.

Pricing: Private Lesson:$40 | Group Rates (groups of 4 or more- you provide the group) $30.00 each

Pony Party | Birthday Party Packages at Leawood Stables:

Basic Pony Package: $150.00 includes:

  • Party held at the stables
  • 1 Pony and 1 Handler for one hour
  • Arena riding
  • Use of the picnic party area for one hour

You provide al paper goods, decorations- we'll provide the pony and handler.

Leawood Stables Offers Organized Trail Rides at least once weekly- horse and equipment provided.
(weather permitting)

We also offer hourly horse rentals and daily horse rentals

We have been in the same location for 25 years.

Overnight Camp-Outs- We have organized overnight trail ride and campouts monthly (weather permitting).
These camp-outs come complete with horse, equipment and served meals!

You are accompanied by experienced guides at all times.

Call for rates for your party size and see when the next scheduled camp out is.

Don't forget we offer summer day camps for children- boys and girls- Cowboy Camps. Call for details!
